FIRST: Air France and OnAir launch 2.5G in-flight Mobile Phone Service

After
Boeing switched off
Connexion by Boeing, Air France has become the first airline in the world to
offer an in-flight mobile phone service on international flights. Using
the Mobile OnAir system, passengers travelling on board of one of the Airbus
A318 aircraft operating European routes can now send and receive SMS and MMS
messages as well as send and receive E-Mails via all phones with Internet
access. During the second half of the six month trial, passengers will also be
able to make and receive phone calls, with the service being regulated to
maintain passengers' comfort and well-being.

APPROVAL: Bluetooth SIG approves the HTC Neon 200 - an indication for a UMTS Touch?

The
HTC Neon was
recently unveiled by the FCC, which is most likely a Windows Mobile
Professional smartphone with touchscreen and now the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest
Group) lists the HTC Neon too. However unlike the FCC, which approved the Neon
100, the Bluetooth SIG got the Neon 200 for testing - which is a clear
indication that at least 2 different designs exists.
As always, the Bluetooth SIG isn't unveiling too much about the device features
except that it is supporting Bluetooth 2.0+EDR but if you have a closer look on
the FCC label, you might notice that the device seems to feature a front facing
camera, right from the speaker as the
HTC Touch Dual does too.

CANCELED: Vodafone (Germany) has no further plans to release the Vodafone 920

Not
that we ever met the
Vodafone 920,
Vodafone's self-branded Windows Mobile 6 Standard smartphone, developed and
manufactured by HTC, which
was announced back in September as a Christmas device. And if you wonder now
where the Vodafone 920 is - so close to Christmas - the answer is easy: Vodafone
canceled it (for now). Vodafone Germany confirmed this today in an E-Mail to us.
That's too bad since I had the hope (and according to the
only
photo we've ever seen there were real chances) that the Vodafone 920 might
be a kind of UMTS version of the
T-Mobile Shadow.

LEAKED: First Google Android Smartphone shows its face

Not
a Windows Mobile device, the
Android prototype
photo Gizmodo just received looks quite similar to a Windows Mobile device
(mostly like the HTC S620) which is no wonder since HTC is part of
Google's recently
announced
Open Handset Alliance.
According to Gizmodo's anonymous tipster, the OS (and device) - in its early
form - is light and fast, much faster than the desktop emulator at times. And as
a longtime programmer, he thinks it's a lot more put together than Window Mobile
on the back side of things.
