UNCONFIRMED: TomTom Navigator 7 seems to work with latest TomTom Navigator 6 Maps [UPDATE]

Absolutely
unconfirmed, I've just received an E-Mail from a fellow the::unwired reader that
he recently tried out is recently purchased
TomTom
Navigator 6 maps v6.75 with his new
O2 Xda diamond
which runs the - yet to be announced -
TomTom
Navigator 7.
While TomTom Navigator 7 features minor enhancements like Map corrections, it's
basically an update to the officially available TomTom Navigator 6 only.
However, unlike for TomTom Navigator 6, TomTom isn't offering any purchasable
maps for TomTom Navigator 7 yet but users of a German O2 Xda diamond can
download one city map only - at least free of charge.

UTILITY: Customize HTC's Touch Diamond TouchFLO 3D with Diamond TF3D Config [UPDATE]

TouchFLO
3D, HTC's new Today screen replacement for the
HTC Touch
Diamond (and the upcoming
HTC Touch Pro)
is quite handy and useful for most users. However, everybody has different needs
and therefore a customization is always appreciated. Unfortunately, HTC has left
all customization options except that you can change the background image of the
main screen (only). However, a member of the German Windows Mobile Forum "PPC-Welt
Community" has now released a free utility called "Diamond TF3D Config" which
adds some more customization options to the HTC Touch Diamond by allowing a user
to rearrange the TouchFLO 3D tabs.

BETA: Microsoft releases Beta Windows Media Center SideShow Gadget

Brilliant,
one of my very personal hot topics is
Microsoft's SideShow
technology for
Windows Vista which is a technology for distributing interactive content to
connected small-screen devices, such as Windows Mobile smartphones. The content
is created and managed by small software applications called SideShow gadgets.
And while Microsoft finally released the long awaited
SideShow application for Windows Mobile a while ago, even if yet available
as an early Beta only, one of the most anticipated SideShow gadget wasn't
available so far - a Windows Vista Media Center gadget to remote control the
Media Center from mobile devices like smartphones.

AVAILABLE: Samsung releases the SGH-i200 Windows Mobile Smartphone for Open Market

Unveiled
back in February already, Samsung today announced the open market
availability of the
SGH-i200 Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard smartphone.
Featuring triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 900/1800/1900 MHz and singleband UMTS/HSDPA

while on the front it has an additional VGA camera for UMTS video telephony. The
non-touchscreen measures 2.3", supports QVGA resolution and includes a
light-sensor.

SERVICE: FriendMobilizer brings Facebook to Windows Mobile

Macrospecs,
Inc. just announced the launch of FriendMobilizer, a Windows Mobile application
that gives users full access to their Facebook account. Viewing friends' info,
writing on walls, looking at photo albums, and changing his/her status is a
small example of the wide list of the features available to users at their
fingertips. Not only does FriendMobilizer run on the majority of Windows Mobile
smartphones and Pocket PCs, it also allows you to get notifications sent
straight to the home screen. You'll be able to approve friend requests, view
group/event invites, find out about new wall posts and messages, and much more.

UNVEILED: Telus Mobility first to carry the HTC Touch Diamond in North America

Canadian
Telus Mobility
is the first North American carrier which confirmed to release the
HTC Touch
Diamond later this summer. While neither
Verizon nor
Sprint have
confirmed an upcoming launch yet, a Canadian carrier is again the first to
launch another Windows Mobile smartphone first. Since Telus Mobility is a
CDMA carrier, Telus
Mobility's Touch Diamond is for sure the CDMA version, featuring
EVDO Rev. A high-speed
Internet access. Other confirmed features are Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional,
TouchFLO 3D,
inbuilt GPS, the 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera on the back, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi and inbuilt 4
GB memory. However, the FM radio, which the WCDMA version also includes, isn't
mentioned by Telus Mobility.

SYNCHRONIZATION: SyncMate 1.3 synchronizes any Windows Mobile device with your Mac

With the more successful Apple Mac Notebooks, good sync-solutions for Windows
Mobile and Mac OS are becoming more important as well.
Following Eltima Software's earlier public Beta of SyncMate, the developer
now released an updated version of SyncMate. SyncMate 1.3 lets users synchronize
Favorites, Contacts, Calendar, Notes from any Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6 devices
with their analogues Bookmarks, Address Book, iCal, Stickies on Mac OS and vice
versa - and it supports synchronization via USB cable or WiFi (something which
was removed from Microsoft ActiveSync years ago). SyncMate Expert allows to
synchronize iPhoto, iTunes, Folders, Notes and Time and includes SMS Manager and
Applications List manager.

REVIEW: HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Touch Pro, Samsung i900 Omnia & Sony Ericsson X1 Camera comparison

No
question, so far Windows Mobile smartphone cameras were pretty basic and users
mostly got 1.3 megapixel cameras only or - if lucky - a 2 megapixel camera with
fixfocus. However, with the recent launched and upcoming new Windows Mobile
smartphones, the situation will get better The new
HTC Touch Diamond,
HTC
Touch Pro and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 features 3.2 megapixel cameras with
autofocus and the Samsung SGH-i900 Omnia even features a 5 megapixel camera
which makes it the first available Windows Mobile smartphone in the 5 megapixel
class. Furthermore, three of the new smartphones (Touch Pro, Omnia and X1) even
sports a photo LED for night shots. Nevertheless, since all cameras are not the
same, we took the recent opportunity to compare the four most anticipated phone
cameras which each other.
